For my first post I decided to do a review on the YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick in 'Fetish Pink' #8.
Main reason being;
1. The photos I took for this turned out pretty good compared to the photos I took for other products; AND
2. Someone made a comment regarding a review for this product
Sooo... here are a few snaps I took:
I actually did NOT like this product the first time I tried it on. But to be fair, my lips were pretty dry and flaky that day. So after waiting a few days for my lips to go back to normal, I applied it again, and I must say that I LOVED IT! The formulation is very creamy, it kind of feels like butter but it's not oily or sticky. This lipstick has very good colour payoff; you will only need to apply two layers to get the exact colour shown on the tube. I actually really like this colour, it reminds me of an exagerrated version of the lady gaga lipstick from MAC; very girly and fun! And of course, the packaging of this lipstick is to die for! It makes a great accessory to your handbag.
But, there are a few things you need to be wary of. This lipstick does not have very good lasting power. If you do not eat or drink anything, it should stay on your lips for a few hours; but as soon as your lips touch anything, the colour will rub off (it can get kind of messy - so try to avoid kissing people - lol). This lipstick is also not suitable for people with dry lips, I can only use this when my lips are in perfect condition, and even then I need to apply a lip balm first. Finally, with this particular colour, you do need to apply a lipgloss on top. Because it is so creamy, it can end up settling in your lines, so a lipgloss will help to mask this.
Overall, I really like it. I might consider purchasing 1 more; I don't think I want any more than 2 because it is very pricey and I feel like it's more of a luxury item than a necessity (and yes, there is a difference between a luxury make up item and a neccessary make up item.. hehehe)
